From the Factory to the Early Hours: The Story of La Alborada
October 5, 2026
La Alborada is a century-old tradition that brings the city together in the early hours of the morning through music, stars, and the celebration of Saint Michael the Archangel.
Every year, since 1924, the city prepares to celebrate Saint Michael the Archangel. La Alborada has brought together families, neighborhoods, and visitors for more than a century during the early hours of the morning, amid brass bands, paper stars, and fireworks. The tradition began when workers from Salvatierra and Querétaro brought a celebration to San Miguel and, a year later, it was dedicated to the city's patron saint.
The 2026 edition, held in the early hours of October 3, brought together approximately 8,000 people in the Historic Center, in front of the Parish of Saint Michael the Archangel.
